Point of Rocks, MDFrederick County faces rapid transitions in the coming years, raising important concerns regarding the character of our communities, the stewardship of our natural resources, and opportunities afforded all of our residents. I believe Kai Hagen is an exceptional choice to serve on the Frederick County Board of County Commissioners, helping us to navigate these concerns with skill, enthusiasm, and civility. Kai brings a thoughtful, balanced perspective to the issues, and a capacity to constructively engage parties of differing backgrounds and perspectives. He has advocated strongly for measures that ensure the adequacy of public services and infrastructure to meet growing demands, with a particular interest in the quality of our children’s education. He speaks to the needs of our business community, and the importance of sound regional and municipal planning in maintaining a positive business environment. Particularly noteworthy is his commitment to administrative ethics and open participatory government that strengthens the voice of citizens in the public decision-making process. We need leadership at Winchester Hall that can guide us into the future while preserving all that is unique and special to Frederick County. My original aquaintance with Kai Hagen came several years ago. We were neighbors and both serving as advisors to the Catoctin Land Trust. Together we shared a concern about protecting our regions natural heritage and limiting the excess growth that was transforming Frederick County too quickly and short sightedly into more of the suburban sprawl that has cost Maryland so much of its rural landscape.
