Frederick

Knowing my thoughts and philosophy concerning growth and reasoned planning, several candidates for local office in the past have asked if I would publicly endorse them. I’ve always been reluctant to do so, but I’m making an exception because I believe Kai Hagen’s bid for County Commissioner is of the utmost importance. Electing Kai, and at least two like-minded candidates, is the only way we can reverse the tide of events in Frederick County.

More and more of us are realizing that the county’s planning process is not working to the benefit of its residents. We don’t have to accept ever more crowded roads and schools, problems with water allocation, new and higher taxes and fees. We want out tax dollars invested more wisely. We know the county could be spending less money for better services, if only more responsible planning principals were followed.

Please listen to what Kai Hagen has to propose and how he would address the concerns we share. His broad and detailed knowledge of the county gives him to have a clear understanding of how the county budget and the financial management can efficiently and effectively reflect and support our real priorities.

Let’s take this opportunity to put Frederick County on a different and wiser path – a path that will ensure responsible planning and a Comprehensive Plan that addresses our real concerns. A vote for Kai Hagen will start us on that path.

That was a big coincidence for me, because I have a similar history up here in the Catoctins. No doubt, Kai too spent hours in those days following deer trails through the woods,...
