Say not to Sprawl at Winchester Hall
Location: Winchester Hall, Frederick
Concerned Frederick County residents will stage a rally in front of Winchester Hall on Saturday, April 22 at 1 p.m. to speak out against the current draft of the New Market Region Plan. The rally comes as the Board of Frederick County Commissioners consider a plan to build 13,889 homes in New Market at a time when the region is already reeling from gridlock and crowded schools. Despite overwhelming opposition, and an independent traffic study which shows that the plan will add 200,000 car trips a day on local roadways, some Commissioners have indicated they will support the plan.
The Frederick County Board of County Commissioners will be holding the final public hearing on the New Market Region Plan at Linganore High School on Tuesday, April 25th.
The SAY NO TO SPRAWL AT WINCHESTER HALL is sponsored by Friends of Frederick County (FOFC), an organization dedicated to preserving farmland and promoting reasonable growth in the region. Among those invited to speak are: Frederick County Commissioners John “Lennie” Thompson and Jan Gardner; Wayne Creadick, Mayor of Myersville; Richard Floyd, Former Member of the Frederick County Planning Commission; Robert Glasby, New Market resident; Kai Hagen, Director of the Frederick Regional Action Network and Candidate for County Commissioner; Joanne Ivancic, Green Party; David Gray, Former President BOCC; Sally Sorbello, concerned citizen; Andrew Duck, Candidate 6th District Congress; Barry Kissin, Candidate 6th District Congress and featuring the Maryland Ensemble Theatre on participation in democracy…and more!

WHY I"M VOTING FOR KAI!

The business community supports Kai Hagen for County Commissioner. As a Frederick County business owner, I have come to the conclusion that Kai Hagen as County Commissioner would be very good for business, and that, in contrast, the continuing the status quo of the current pro-development Board of County Commissioners would be just as bad for business as it would be for the rest of the county.
